RECOMMENDED THERAPY PLAN

Therapy is like pushing a cart down the road. It can be difficult to get started but once you get it going, it gets much easier! After a couple of weeks in therapy you will likely notice you’re beginning to feel much better, especially if we are working on trauma or chronic pain. When this happens, it’s not uncommon to say to yourself “I think I’ve got this! I don’t need any more therapy.” This is kind of like taking antibiotics for an infection. After a day or two you begin feeling better and it’s tempting to stop taking the antibiotics, but the infection is still there and will likely return if you stop taking the medication. Therapy is kind of the same thing. The problem is that missed or irregular sessions can result in lost momentum. This, in turn, results in longer treatment and more expense.

To help, we offer a significant discount for clients that seriously want to feel better and are willing to commit to therapy. Here’s how it works:

  • You make a commitment to 10 weeks of consistent weekly therapy sessions, all scheduled in advance.

  • After each session, you will pay a discounted session fee of $68, for a total of $680 over the 10 week period. This fee also applies to the initial intake session. This is a savings of $110 over the 10 week period, like getting the intake session for free.

  • You also agree that if you miss a scheduled session for any reason the regular fee of $68 will apply. This is an added encouragement to attend all scheduled sessions and has proven helpful and less costly in completing therapy.

  • If additional sessions are needed, those can be scheduled at the reduced rate.

About Filing Insurance

Many people are not aware that when any medical health professional, mental health or otherwise, files a health insurance claim, there must be a medical diagnosis assigned to you, the client. In other words, we are REQUIRED to assign to you a mental illness, whether one exists or not. As my specialty is as a trauma therapist I routinely work with people that are already hurt by circumstances and by others. Involving an insurance database that will track them for the remainder of their lives may not be in their best interest. Healing from trauma should be a venture between your therapist and you, not you and an insurance database. Besides the obvious ethical issue, we believe this not only stigmatizes the client, but many diagnoses go with you for the rest of your life. Also, when insurance is filed, your diagnosis and treatment information goes into an insurance database and is available to any insurance company you may need to interact with in the future. This information is readily available to any insurance company you decide to work with in the future. This is often seen as an invasion of your privacy. When you pay for therapeutic services, either out of pocket, or by HSA, your information stays completely safe and private.
